Yash Hospital is the main provider of major trauma service inNorth Karnataka, treating about 40 per cent of the Belgaum's major trauma cases. The Trauma Service is led by Dr S.K.Patil and provides state-of-the-art emergency trauma and critical care for injured patients 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and is the second largest in Belgaum. More than 3500 trauma patients are admitted annually, with over 400 of these patients classed as "major trauma". The trauma service at Yash has expanded continually, especially since the November 2007 . In 2008 a specific 17-person Trauma Service was created, with a focus on improved outcomes and quality patient care. A designated trauma ward is being built and will be open for use by patients in early 2008. The Yash Hospital now consists of four full-time research nurses, a secretary and a Trauma Program Manager, to assist with the growing number of major trauma admissions as Yash fulfils its role as the Trauma and Critical Care Centre. Dedicated trauma allied health staff - a Clinical Psychologist; Physiotherapist; Occupational Therapist and Social Worker - complete the comprehensive clinical trauma service and contribute enormously to the combined quality care of the trauma patient.
The Trauma Program Manager provides administrative direction to the Trauma Service, assisting the Director of Trauma Services in the implementation of the State Adult Major Trauma Centre at Yash and coordinates data management and quality improvement activities.
